GreenGirls and friends, you are invited to help plant trees in Pease Park. Below is a letter from Richard Craig, who is doing an outstanding job of organizing events that make it easy for us to participate.

"I want to alert all of the Friends of Pease Park about our upcoming tree planting day in the park (1100 Kingsbury Street) on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. We will be planting 147 trees that morning with the help of the Parks and Recreation Department, the Austin Parks Foundation and Tree Folks. You are all invited to come participate.

Following the planting, there will be a celebration in honor of the new trees with live music by "Texico" and refreshments provided by Blue Star Cafeteria (starting about noon). So, please come out and help us plant trees and then adjourn for a "Party in the Park" in their honor. It should be good fun for the whole family. You will be doing something good for the environment and the community and have a blast at the same time.

We are also continuing to raise money for our planting efforts at Pease Park. If you would like to contribute, you can go to the website for the Austin Parks Foundation: www.austinparks.com and contribute by credit card. Or you can mail your check payable to "Friends of Pease Park" or "Trees for Pease" to:

Thanks for all of your support of Pease Park. I look forward to seeing all of you on November 14th. With everyone's help, we are going to restore it to being one of the environmental jewels of Austin."

- Richard Craig

We hope to see you there!
